Type 409 ULTRA FORM is an AK Steel proprietary grade developed for applications needing better formability of complex shapes, compared to conventional Type 409 Stainless Steel. T409 Ultra Form is available in Hot Rolled Annealed and Pickled #1 (HRAP) and Cold Rolled 2B or 2D surface finishes. Originally developed for automotive exhaust systems, end users of T409 stainless steel also include manufacturers of non-automotive exhaust systems, truck, power generation, heat exchanger, silencer, fuel filter, farm, agricultural, spreader, woodstove, furnace, transformer, tubing and casket equipment components. 409 and 409 Ultra Form perform well in high temperature environments, offer oxidation and corrosion resistance, good formability and good weldability at an economical price point.
