439 Stainless Steel

Type 439 is a stabilized ferritic stainless steel (Chromium content 17.0 min, 19.0 max.) with a higher Chromium (Cr) content than Type 409, which offers improved corrosion resistance. T439 is stabilized with a titanium (Ti) addition, which results in good weldability. The alloy resists intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It has a higher thermal conductivity and lower coefficient of expansion than Type 304. End users include manufacturers of Automotive Exhaust components, heat exchanger tubing, kitchen equipment, household appliances and architectural structures.

Available in Cold Rolled 2B or 2D surface finishes. Available thicknesses range from .015” to .250”. 439 is available in dual-stabilized (UNS 43932) or titanium-only stabilized (UNS 43035) versions of which either version performs equally in all environments.
